(MANDATORY) Ensure the Ring Is In Good Condition
First and foremost, before cleaning your ring check to make sure it is in good condition first. Take time and look closely at the ring to check its condition. Look for signs of safety and secureness, mainly to see if the stone is not loose on the ring. Is the stone safely secured in the setting, and are the claws that grasp the diamond firm? Begin Cleaning Using Dishwashing Liquid
In order to get your ring to shine brilliantly again, you will need to clean it. First, gather a container of warm-hot water. After, add dishwashing liquid to the container, and then put your ring inside and let the diamond ring soak between 20-40 minutes. If your ring is very dirty, however, it is best to leave your ring sitting overnight.

Gently Brush the Ring Using a Toothbrush
Make sure that you have a soft-bristled toothbrush and not one that has any rubber bristles. A children’s toothbrush is preferred as they are softer and make it ideal to use to clean the diamond rings. Make sure to dedicate this toothbrush to only jewellery cleaning, as then it will stay soft and clean for much longer. Make sure to clean all around the diamond and the ring, and take time and focus on cleaning the lower part of the diamond where it is mounted, as this is where most of the dirt builds up.

Rinse Your Ring Under the Water
Once you have gently brushed your ring, go to a sink that has a plug (so if your ring drops it won’t go down the drain) and rinse it under warm running water. Rinse and repeat this process as many times as you would like until you are satisfied with the appearance of your ring.

Safely Dry Your Ring
Once you are satisfied with your cleaning of the ring, you are able to dry the ring in two different ways. The first way is to use a cotton or linen cloth to dry it off. This is because cloth and linen are soft and will not scratch the metal. The other option is to let your ring air dry if you do not have a linen or cotton cloth.

(OPTIONAL) Polish Your Ring
This step is optional, as in order to properly polish your ring you will need a polishing cloth. A polishing cloth can also be used on platinum rings and white gold rings to make the metal shine as well. Make sure the cloth is clean and does not have any dust on it if you use it. To prevent this, store the cloth in a resealable bag to avoid dust.
Ultrasonic Cleaner
An ultrasonic cleaner can be used instead, allowing you to skip steps 2-4. It is crucial that you do not skip the first step, however. This first step still applies no matter what type of cleaning process you do, even more so when using an ultrasonic cleaner. Since the ultrasonic cleaner uses vibrations to clean, you risk the stone coming out of its setting. That is why it is very important to make sure that it is very secure in its setting.
